Each year I spend a few months coming up with some family picture ideas. This year I decided to do a city family photoshoot! The city was so quiet, so it made for some easy family pictures. We didn't have to worry about people being in the background!
I knew these family pictures were going to be clean and beautiful against this white building. I absolutely love how this city family photoshoot turned out! I love using buildings as a backdrop for photos when it's winter and all the beautiful summer and fall colors are gone.
I wanted to keep our clothing darker so it would pop against this building. I always start with my dress, then choose Blakely's dress, and go from there with the boys. The boys are always significantly easier to dress! Pro tip: Don't forget shoes and accessories.
Once all the outfits are decided, I make sure we all have shoes that fit and match the shoot. The kids grow so fast and we've definitely had years where the kids were squeezing into small shoes for the family photos. Haha.

Stef: This green dress is so beautiful! I absolutely love the color and it is so comfortable. Dress // Similar dress here // Heels
Blakely: Blakely's dress was from Zara but not longer available. Similar dress here // Similar dress here // Sandals // Bow
Tim: Dark Denim // Button up // Shoes
TJ: I had to get TJ these cool pants for our city family photoshoot. I love them! TJ's Pants // Top // Shoes
Ryder: I kept Ryder's style very classic for family pictures this year. Denim button up // Black pants // Camo kicks
When the kids were younger, we had to get a lot of candid family pictures because it was hard to keep their attention! Now that they are older, we can do more posed photos in addition to the candid ones. And I have to say these might be my most favorite pictures ever! So glad we went with the city family photoshoot style this year.
I loved this family photoshoot. These pictures will be hard to top!
